Top Ten Songs from a Sports Movie

Movie Madness Top Ten goes on........Songs from the movies.

So for all of us that watch sports movies there are three things we enjoy about a good sports movie. One, great story, the underdog wins again or something along those lines. Two, great sports actions, whether it was a football, basketball, baseball or hockey film, if we liked it then it had great sports action. Three is the music. We all have found ourselves at some point singing a song from one of the great sports movies.

With this in mind I ran an election of sorts. Best song from a sports movie and I have come up with a pretty good list. The Top Ten Songs from a sports movie. So here goes.

10) We all remember Michael Jordan's movie career, how could we not. He starred with one of the most beloved characters of all time, Bugs Bunny. We all know the song as well, not from the radio but because it was played as MJ was a kid and begging his dad for just a little more time to play. "I believe I can fly" was the perfect song to exemplify MJ and his role in not just basketball but life.

9) Denzel was great in Remember the Titans but who can forget Marvin Gaye's "I heard it through the grapevine" . Great song in a great movie. Landing it at the ninths spot.

8) Anyone who has seen the Pride of the Yankees ca not forget the beautiful rendition of "Auld Land Syne" that is playing while Lou Gehrig gives his most famous of speeches. It set the mood and made this scene better. Landing it at number 8.

7) "Thunderstuck" was laid over the action so well in The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler that it has to make the list. It was the perfect song for the comeback scene. Underdogs win again.

6) Anyone watching Angels in the Outfield was laughing uncontrollably during the scene win the ball is "mysteriously" just out of reach of all the ball players in the filed and continues to bounce and roll about while the Angels score to win the game. Hippy Hippy Shake was playing and made it all the more fun for us to see.

5) If you saw the film He got Game you will remember number 5 on our list. Great tune and added to a great movie. He Got Game is number 5 and well placed on our list.

4) Karate Kid launched a franchise and at the time many would argue it was not a sports movie, years later the MMA proves otherwise. The theme song from the film has also stood the test of time. At number 4 on our list is Your the Best and well deserved.

3) Bull Durham is a top ten Sports movie of all time, so to is its soundtrack. It gave us "Centerfield" and this song makes us all feel a little like playing the game. Great song and a great film. Perfect together and number 3 on our list.

2) If you watched the film Waterboy you know it had a great soundtrack and also had a song that everyone from rock to rap knows, Tom Sawyer is just short of the top spot and sits at number 2 on our list.

The number one song from a sports movie is............ "WILD THING" from Major League. Wether you love it or hate it you know it. It made a whole new generation of sports fans and also taught an entire group of none fans what a closer was. Not to mention gave Charlie Sheen's career life and a theme song to follow him with.

I hope you enjoyed our list, feel free to chime in with your own top ten.
